Welcome to UTM Mukurtu
The Digital Scholarship Unit at the University of Toronto Mississauga Library (UTML) built a multi-site Mukurtu installation in 2020 to address Faculty needs in developing digital knowledge mobilization projects in ethically-minded ways. The Mukurtu content management system enables our faculty and students to create digital exhibits, editions, and a range of scholarship not supported by current scholarly publishing venues. Knowledge can be curated by multiple communities to provide different levels of access to the general public and specific groups. Access can be determined with cultural protocols which empower the individuals and communities responsible for an item's representation and online use. Our aim is to assist faculty and students in using Mukurtu to meet the needs of diverse communities who want to manage and share their digital cultural heritage in their own way, on their own terms.
We are still developing our first example collection on the website to demonstrate Mukurtu's functionality for faculty and students. Please contact us if you are interested in partnering with us on a digital project with Mukurtu. We welcome collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and the wider community on projects that support curricula and research at the University of Toronto Mississauga.
